Our Story
Four Decades Of Material Innovation
1984-1990s
Pioneering Patented Designs for Real-World Challenges
In 1984, the United States Postal Service approached Liberty Plastics with a critical challenge: their cardboard mail totes were failing in the field. The totes would rip, tear, break, and become unusable when exposed to rain, snow, and daily handling across thousands of postal routes. USPS needed a solution that could withstand weather, repeated use, and the demanding conditions of mail delivery operations.
Liberty Plastics responded by engineering corrugated plastic totes that solved every problem cardboard couldn’t. More than 40 years later, we continue manufacturing USPS mail totes – a testament to the durability and reliability of HDPE corrugated plastic. This partnership established our foundation: we don’t just manufacture products, we solve operational challenges that traditional materials can’t address.
Building on this success, Liberty Plastics developed several patented corrugated plastic designs in 1990 that revolutionized the building materials industry, particularly in roofing applications. These innovations laid the foundation for our flagship brand, Quarrix, which quickly emerged as a leader in building products. Our patents demonstrated that corrugated plastic could outperform traditional materials across demanding applications, establishing HDPE as a superior alternative.
2000s-2010s
Advancing Wave-Core Technology
Building on our patent foundation, we perfected Wave-Core™ – our industry-leading corrugated plastic that delivers unprecedented flexibility combined with exceptional durability. Unlike standard corrugated plastic that can only be produced in rigid sheets, Wave-Core’s proprietary extrusion process enables it to roll, flex, and bend while maintaining structural integrity. This breakthrough opened new applications across industries from high-value packaging to protective transportation solutions.
2020s-Present
Leading Sustainable Manufacturing
Today, Liberty Plastics stands at the forefront of sustainable HDPE manufacturing. Our closed-loop production system captures 99% of manufacturing waste, recycling it back into high-quality corrugated plastic products. We incorporate post-industrial recycled plastic into all products as standard practice, helping customers transition from single-use materials to durable, reusable corrugated plastic solutions that eliminate waste and reduce environmental impact.

Product Innovation: Beyond Standard Corrugated Plastic
Wave-Core represents the pinnacle of corrugated plastic engineering. Made from high-density polyethylene (HDPE), it surpasses polypropylene and other corrugated plastics in temperature resistance, impact durability, and flexibility. Our material withstands temperatures from -40°F to 180°F without becoming brittle, delivers superior UV resistance for outdoor applications, and can be die-cut to consistent tolerances that meet the strictest specifications.
But Wave-Core is just one part of our portfolio. We’ve expanded our corrugated plastic solutions to include ready-to-ship containers and storage systems, bringing the same HDPE quality and sustainability to off-the-shelf products that don’t require custom fabrication.
Manufacturing Innovation: Sustainable at Scale
Our Baldwyn, MS facility represents advanced sustainable manufacturing in action. Through specially designed systems, we capture and reprocess HDPE waste off the production line, converting it back into resin pellets for immediate reuse. This closed-loop approach minimizes virgin resin consumption while maintaining the performance standards customers demand.
We’ve also invested in water conservation through closed-loop water systems that filter and recycle water throughout our facility. Combined with full LED lighting and our Tennessee Valley Authority energy partnership, our manufacturing operations demonstrate that high-volume corrugated plastic production can operate efficiently while minimizing environmental impact.
